How much does your V8 Ranger weigh?

How do you like the Meziere pump? How much weight difference is there in the aluminum pulleys vs. steel ones?

I can't speak for the 5.0 pulleys, but the 3 row crank pulley for my 429 is a heavy SOB. Theres a few pounds difference in my stock vs march.

The stock BBF water pump is VERY heavy. It,s a big chunk of cast iron. The Meziere weighs next to nothing in compaison.

My 4x4 4-door Supercab with 302/4R70W/BW4406, front and rear hitches and just about every factory option is well over 4000. A real hog when compared to other Ranger V8 swaps.

I'm so curious as to what my ranger weighs now... Anyone weight a full width SAS ranger before?

5600 with 302 aod np 208 d60's and 35's

4k stock:dunno:

i think you are light....good job

What kinds of mods do you have done. I am gone SAS with fullwidth D44/9" from a '79 Bronco. I really don't think the weight changed much as I pulled a TON of things out of the truck to fit it all in.

When it comes to the engine, I have pistons almost half the weight of stock (Diamond Racing), aluminum heads, aluminum intake, aluminum throttle body (1/4 weight of carb), replaced cast iron timing cover with aluminum cover and cast iron water pump with remote mounted Meziere electric. Also tossing the steel pulleys for March Aluminum. I'm definitely gonna be under a SBF weight. I want equal weight distribution if I can do it.

dude.....unless your running 33's....you need axles.

My truck is a streetrod, not a rock crawler. The 4x4 is because of the crazy snow we get in Newfoundland. That being said, the offroad bug might hit me and I'll find myself breaking things. That's when I go with bigger axles.

Here comes the flames... I'm running Firestone Destination MTs.. 31x10.5x15s :icon_rofl:. Hahaha. Soon as I get the big block straightened up, I will work on new rubber. I'm gonna go 35s I think. Unless I can find a 33 that's 10.5" wide. Can't afford to do it all at once. I have a '66 Bronco that I'll swap the 31s onto.

in that case a well constructed 31 spline 9 with 33's should be great for street rodding.

dont know if i would do a sas for a street rod though:icon_confused:

likely would have went to a 150 k member fitted with a d44 ttb and fat bastard fenders front and rear from the desert guys so i could keep it low, wide, and agile..

I went SAS cause a big block won't fit with a 4wd ttb. Not enough room for the sump in the oil pan. With the solid axle up front there is lots of room. A 2wd ttb works great with the big block pan, bu 2wd isn't an option in Newfoundland. Boggin can vouch for that. Eventually I plan to narrow the axles, but for now I just want to get the big block in and working well. Then the refinements.

move the k member 2 inches forward....or like i mentioned start off fitting a 150 k member and it will fit in there ok, pan mods will be extensive depending on starter selection....but left full width with the big glass fenders it would be a friggin riot to play with in the snow. thats where the sla chassis have an advantage

It's the actual ttb arms that are in the way of the forward sump hump. With a solid axle there is tons of room.

With the detroit locker it's a blast. Just driving around it has great street manners. Put the go pedal down a bit and let the detroit lock up and it will go anywhere.

3750lbs '99 Short cab+bed AWD w/Explorer swap. It is too heavy to be fun.

96 X-cab, factory D35, explorer 8.8 (when I had them) 456's, 33" MT's, 97 explorer motor, trans, tcase I was at 5500....
