Well my 84 B2 Odometer only reads 37,917 miles unfortunately I'm not sure how many times its rolled over, or if the odometer is original, or the engine/transmission are original. The previous owner was clueless which the hack job this B2 is I'm not surprised about the clueless part.
I just wish there was a way to really tell the actual miles on a vehicle. The way this B2 runs and drives I kind of think the engine was replaced at some point so I'm not sure what's really been done and what the total mileage is. All I know is I've put 3700 miles on it since last November as it sat a lot due to maintenance issues, it sat for a month due to the head gasket replacement, then sat for a few weeks because of the bolts falling out of the flywheel (can't figure out how or why, but they started coming lose). I've driven it daily for the past several months and the more I drive it the more I like it and want to restore it.
These old rigs just keep on going. Mine has so many oil leak issues right now it changes its own oil every week or 2, I put in a quart of oil every 3 days. This fall its going to the local high school auto shop to have all of its seals and gaskets replaced. So thankful that this high school auto shop teacher is letting me take it down there for all these repairs.
So far since November, I've spent about $100 in parts, slave cylinder, oil, filter, starter. I was trying to figure up the other day how much I've saved by having the high school kids work on it, and its gotta be at least a couple thousand bucks so far.
Wow umm, I kind of lost track of the OP.
My 1984 Ford Ranger 2.8L 4x2 automatic, had 169k on it when I sold it in 2001. Sadly I didn't know about the ranger station back then or I could have simply did the duraspark conversion and fixed the computer issues.
My grandfather's 1993 Ford Ranger 4.0L 4x4 automatic had 279k on original engine and 2nd transmission when the 2nd tranny failed the truck was sold. This truck originally belonged to my uncle who used it for several years on a paper route around Auburn California and through the American River Canyon. It had many hard miles on it between the paper route, and my cousin thinking it was a dune buggy. I don't think that truck had anything on it that wasn't dented, scratched, or broken.
I've had several older trucks (non-ford) with over 300k on them most of which just received minimal routine maintenance and just kept on going. One of those trucks was a 1989 Nissan D21 4x4 3.0L 5 speed pickup, which I'm guessing now probably has close to 500k on it and probably still on the original engine.
