im looking into a memphis 2 channel amp to run my speakers.

heres the amp,http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_20337_Memphis+16-PR2.100+R-B.html

heres the front speakers http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9109_Polk+Audio+db6501+.html

heres the rear speakers http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9126_Polk+Audio+db691.html

im gonna wire them in parallel so the amp is sending a 2ohm load to the speakers. meaning each speaker should get 75 watts. i think.

and i dont care about the fader control.

thanks.

EDIT, i edited my amp, and thinking lol

to get a 2ohm load with 4 ohm speakers you would have to wire them in parallel. If your using that one amp for all 4 speakers you sill only get 50wrms per speaker.

hmm, need to rethink this then.

so running them in parallel, with a 2ohm load will give 100 watts to each channel.

so i guess by splitting that i get 50 watts to each channel?

i had a feeling, but i also have a hard time trying to think how it breaks down.

time to look for a bigger amp. guess im gonna spend 200 on an amp then.

Edited Amp, Please Look

yes 100 watts per channel
2 speakers per channel
50 watts per speaker

ok got it.

now back to the original question.

how are memphis amps?? ive never used em, but i see alot of people running them.

reason for 2 channel is more wattage for less money.

a polk amp putting out 100 rms to each channel is over 200 bucks. my budget is 700 and what makes it so high is the headunit i want.

so how will this amp perform?

i listen to alot of rock. metallica, limp bizkit, korn, srv, and i like alot of acoustic guitar.

the thought of running comps in the rear is still on my mind. i want to hear all the little instruments.

eventually, i will be running kicker amps, and subs for bass. but im starting with this and work my way from here. lol

id say try to find one with a little more power because your speakers can take it and you dont want to regret getting a smaller one later (unless the cost is significantly more). Ill wait for someone to chime in on the amp specifically but it looks like its gonna be hard to beat for the price

ok, thanks snomaker. i appreciate all your help.

hey no problem. im just learning too but im glad to pass on what i can

looks good to me as far as numbers go, but i got nothing but what you already know on quality.

Memphis makes great amps but their customer service isnt the greatest but as long as you buy from an authorized dealer you will be fine. They will not repair anything purchased from unauthorized sellers (ebay etc...)

Great choice on speakers BTW... id stick with coaxials in the rear if you absolutely must have rear speakers.

ok, im buying everything from sonic. so well see what happens.

and thanks loud ranger. im going coaxs in the rear. not enough money to setup a proper front stage.

and going into a 4-door explorer. i just cant see not having rears.

Ok i forgot its going in an explorer, its hard to keep up considering you seem to make a new list weekly lol.. Ya i would run rears in an suv.

actually wasn't making a list this time, was just asking an amp question but wanted to show the speakers I'm gonna run to give the full picture.

but yeah I tend to repeat myself a lot lol. 700 bucks is a lot of money on a system to me. wanna get it right the first time. so please excuse my numerous posts on the same questions.

nite all!
