How do you...

Years ago I was researching OHV 4.0 performance on the internet and I came across a 4.0 with multiple Weber carbs, like you used to see on race cars from the '60s. Wish I could find still find that link, I know I bookmarked it.

What other obstacles do you need to overcome with a carbed SOHC 4.0? You already have the ignition figured out, and the intake manifold could be as simple as fabbing your own (a la gwaii or other methods). Next, just pick a carb. Air/Fuel/Spark, all accounted for.

Make it happen. Post pictures.

Honestly, I think the bigger challenge in this potential project will be how to mount a 4.0 SOHC and Tremec or M5OD into a 1978 Oldsmobile Omega.

And before I deal with that, I have to overcome those 4 drive shaft bolts that I rounded off a few years back.

Ok, I guess that answers my question. Cutting torch FTW. Maybe a die grinder.

I will more than likely go full blown OBDII EFI on it. Mustang dash and all. Gonna piss it off because there won't be and ABS, but oh well. I'll just take the bulb out.

You could do a custom tune for the computer, tell it not to look for some of those sensors you'll be omitting.

That's something I'd like to learn. What online schooling could I take? My knees are shot and I won't be able to do the work I've been doing for the last 30 years so I might as well learn something that I'd like to do. Help an old dog learn a new trick :shok:
P.S. I can take a computer apart and put it back together but I'm no good with programming, so where should I start? :icon_cheers:
Thanks,

Richard

Oh, I have no idea how to do it myself, but there are companies out there that will write custom tunes for you. It's usually in conjunction with a programmer that you plug in to the OBDII port to reprogram the ECU for higher power/better fuel economy, etc.
