how do i replace this?

I have a M50D-r1 which pulls only in fourth. I see the gear which is stripped. It is the very first gear in the front. Also the one under it is a little chewed up how do I go about changing it? The tranny in my truck is about to go out and I need this one fixed asap! I went to the tech section and read about it but that looks foreign to me. If you live near columbus ohio I can drive it to you. Thanx for the help

i was there when another member tore mine down. it isn't that bad to do but you will probably need a main shaft and the gear set under it, a front seal,and an input shaft

i thought rebuild kits come w/ instructions? and id count the synchronizer teeth to see which one you need, there are 2 kits for older m50ds, one is 280 bux at autozoo here and the other is 450 if it has 36 synchro teeth. found this out looking up parts for a trk i was thinking about buying that was stuck in 4th gear, busted synchros. it was a 92 2.3 m50d 2wd. what i find amazing is for rangers oreillys doesnt even show manual transmission parts whatsoever. havent looked at advance yet but thatll be the next place i look if i decide to get the trk.

So do I take every thing out the front or the back? Where do I start? A nut or a clip somewhere?
