How can I identify if my d28 has limited slip?

Hey, I have a b2 with d7 axle code, so limited slip, 4.10 gears on the rear.

Searching found me people saying some d28s had limited slip... How can I identify mine to know if it does or not?

Also, does anyone know what kind of LS it is? Clutch or gear?

Thanks, but I already know the back axle is a 4.10 geared with ls 7.5"... my d7 axle code on the door panel tells me that.

My question is about the front end, the d28.
I have read on other threads mention of a l/s d28, and was wondering how to identify if mine is.

You were the 2nd person I saw mention a l/s d28...
I was searching for answers using the search function, and came across a discussion on the d35, where someone said ford never put LS in the front ends, other than some rare occasions on early rangers/b2s...

Chances are you don't have it, but read the tag on the diff. It would read 4L10 like the rear.

They do exist although are very rare. AllanD can shed some light on the subject. I believe there was a special door code.

You can order limited slip packs from LMC truck for the Dana28, and I've heard of them having them as well.

It should be on one of the bolts that holds the case to the beam, on the front of the beam.

It is a crapshoot if is still there, it could have rusted and fallen off, or been accidentally/intentionally disguarded at some point when someone had it apart.

I have heard of D28 L/S too, they are not very common.

No wingus, the tag is a piece of stamped steel, similar to a dog tag, that has a hole in it, and is bolted on to the diff housing, using one of the cover/3rd member bolts.

If you really absolutely have to know if you have a practically non-existent front end, lock your hubs, jack up your front end, hold the drive shaft, and spin a wheel. If both the other wheel AND the drive shaft try to spin, L/S. If the other wheel spins and the shaft offers minimal resistance to being held, it's an open diff.
