Hood ornament

Don't forget the portholes, all the cool kids have them. :icon_cheers:

More of the story:

My Dad was an ordnance company mechanic in the 95th Division of Patton's 3rd Army in WW-2. Among other things, he brought back this spinner and a large piece of bomb shrapnel. I was told this came from an attack on their repair facility. He also said he should have asked for a Purple Heart from a resulting shrapnel wound. When asked why he didn't, he said because he got hit in the ass! When ask how he got hit in the ass, he said because he was running as fast as he could. I take it to have been embarrassing at the time to get hit in that fashion.

My older brother and I bought Dad a nice low mileage 2002 4WD Ranger XLT which I was given when he died. I just happened upon this spinner when looking through my junk and now think it would make a great hood ornament for this Ranger. I could watch it spin while I drive.

I thought this was a bomb fusing spinner but I do not see nose fuses in pictures of the common German WW-2 bombs. Perhaps others can enlighten me.

The handle from a pull start...
Maybe have the rope coil under the hood and functional.
If its a 3.0 that would be absolutly hilarious.

Slighty less hilarious if its a 2.3...but still pretty damn funny

Weird glitch wit the forum. If I @ someone and select their name, it puts the name in but when I start typing again it resumes from the point that I selected their name from.

Only does it on my phone tho

I thought about leaving it go and I thought about fixing it for you, but then I realized I had a chance to post… lol

You seized the moment to give me a rash of crap.... I commend you for your choice, as most of us would do the same lol

We took in a Mercedes with the 4Matic light on during cash for clunkers and I nabbed the hood ornament for my 302/T5 swapped 81 Cougar sedan. It got a lot of double takes. We had a long time Bronco II then Explorer customer who also had a leased Mercedes. He had a crystal eagle hood ornament on a stainless steel mount that he'd have installed on the hood each time he got a new one. He'd come into our shop so one of my Ford techs could remove it and grind the mount until it fit right, then go back to Mercedes and tell them the Ford dealer fixed their installation. Obviously, he had to pay for a new hood each time he turned in his lease.

I vote for this one from a 50 Ford

Are you sure that's 50's Ford? I don't see that on ebucks.

I knew you would understand :icon_rofl:

Just looking around the web some more, I now believe that to be a U.S. bomb nose fuse. I have not seen the exact model but some very similar. Now for a hood mount!
