Home made light bar...

well i was looking around over on explorerforum.com and saw a sticky by mustangandy about a $10 light bar. i figured hell ill give it a shot. it ended up costing me about 20 bux cuz i used aluminum instead, was easy to make, pretty much cut to 43" drill holes to mount in roof rails and drill for the lights. got the lights for 18 bux a pair from walmart. not sure how good they are i dont have them wired up yet, i ran out of time.

i just put my light bar in front of the stock bar for now. gonna make one for the back to hold 2 lights and gonna attach a hi lift on the side and put i-bolts to strap my spare to and ditch the stock bars. might even put a shovel and ax on the other side

i didnt get long enough bolts, so tomorrow im gonna get some and add more washers btween the roof and the rails, i need to get it a little higher up. im pleased with it tho it didnt take but about an hour from start to finish

Offtopic-- but how is your side glass seal so shiny??

mine has the clip on trim pieces. i have an extra pair off side windows with the trim built on. when i bought my b2 it needed alot of work, and the p.o already pulled the trim off, so i had to sand it all down, and painted with $.98 wal mart el cheapo gloss black paint. then figure out how all the unlabeled pieces went... but on the rubber trim, black fingernail polish works freakin awesome(did it to my 88 eddie bauer b2 back in h.s.)

Bar looks really good man. Might have to fab up one for mine. Looking at yours gave me an idea that might work for one slightly different. Use an extra set of roof rack upright pieces(the ones on the ends) as uprights for a custom light bar that will look like factory. Basically just replace the crossover bar with a heavier gauge one that would support the weight of the lights.

was looking at doing it but its not to feasible. the ends are plastic and pretty flems. i have extra material hangin off each side because im going to make a rear one that holds two lights and im going to run my hi lift longways and ax/shovel on the other side. going to also put some eye bolts on them and get rid of the factory crossbars. tomorrow im going to add my spacers under the light bar and lift it up about another 1/2"
