I'm making a home made body lift for my 87 ranger using the keel roller off of a boat trailer. I'm cutting it in half, giving me 2 inches of lift. The only thing I haven't figured out is what I'm going to use as a steering extension. What I need is a picture of someone with a 80's model ranger that has a body lift kit on it, or any other useful suggestions.

You may not even need a steering extension. If you do, you might be able to pick one up on Ebay for cheap....

If you're looking to make one, I don't have any suggestions, except to make sure it won't ever fail, as it's a fairly important link.

If the keel roller stuff is the poly, I wouldn't use it. It compresses too much, it does work nice to make new body mounts though. Plastic or aluminum are the only things I would consider for a body lift.

My useful suggestion:
They are pretty complex little pieces, definitely not just an extension plate or something like that. Body lifts aren't that much $, and they include that steering piece, the proper spacers, new hardware, and the bumper brackets. You could probably buy one used as well if you stalk the forums, probably for less then $50.
