highlift mounts

The above is something along the lines of what I plan to do with mine.

I also bought a pair of those short D-handle shovels from Harbor Freight:

They will require a custom bracket. I have a pair of them on my Jeep, held in place with some 1.5" conduit clamps, on the swing-out tire rack.

Good choise!!! I just bought the same two shovels last week while I was there at Harbor Freight. They are nicely made and are light weight. Easy to mount on the truck in my Yakima Basket case and.....Plus...I had a coupon for 20% off!!

I had some others with wood handles......they didn't last long. These are fiberglass handled, and won't suffer from exposure like the wood ones did.

i do, i've got the mount, it's just not mounted yet, i need a second set of hands, which i don't have at the moment...

I stopped carrying my Highlift. I don't have anyplace safe to jack from. A bottle jack and some boards are better. A come-along is a better emergency winch. My suspension is so loose the the jack has to be up pretty high to get a tire off the ground. At that height, the truck is arcing enough that it sometimes slips off the jack. Better to dig under and just jack up the axle. I recommend a real shovel, not the little e-tool, and a good bottle jack and dunnage.

I last used my Highlift 3 years ago to pull fenceposts.

i will be getting sliders pretty quick, they are on my short list of gotta gets, before the military calls me...

first on the list is brakes... going rear disks, and slotted fronts

Here's how I put mine on with some junk lying around:

some 90 degree angle brackets off the box, an exhaust clamp and that other piece of metal I bent for the shovel end
