high rpm shifting


Do you think the tach is operating as it should? I'm not sure how one could not realize the engine was revving all the time like that. Maybe the tach is a little jumpy? :dunno:


If it really is waiting that long to shift, it sounds like your modulator valve no longer functions. A Haynes/Chiltons manual should walk you through replacing it.

Modulator valve might be my issue. Money is very tight right now how long should I wait to replace at the maximum? what can happen if this is not corrected. how much $$$$ does this cost?

also it doesnt rev it cruises right along. I took the truck out around the block and it only does it when accelerating hard. like I would getting on the interstate
 
Hmmm - That's how it should operate.

Oh, and sratch the modulator valve idea. Someone correct me, but I don't think the newer trucks have the mod valves. IE, shifting is done by the computer.
