The 400M was one of Ford's "better ideas" that didn't live up to the concept. They were loaded up with the emissions of the day, had thin wall castings (.040 overbore limit) and were known to go through main bearings and leak oil. The idea had been to make big block type power with small block mileage, but it ended up backwards, big block mileage with small block power. Even so they can be torque monsters without the emissions crap.I thought about trying to restore it but money is always an issue and its taking me so long to finish the ranger if I start another build I might never finish. One question though, you mention the 400m like it was a good thing best I can come up with is it drings gas like a 460 weights just a little less but doesn't come near the power. Whats good about it
