hey i have been looking around on here for a couple days im a new ranger owner and i didnt know where to post this so i figured i would do it hear. and i apologize for the long post but all quick help asap will be taken to heart.

I just bought a 1999 ranger 3.0l 4x4 xlt last saturday, i went mud riding sunday and i ended the day getting stuck in a hole that was up to the head lights. the truck would not start my first thought was started got wet wouldnt turn over, i get it out and it cranks but is now knocking like hell. I have not took it apart but sounds like either a rod broke/bent or maybe a lifter came off. heres the question

a. the truck rode at about 2500 rpm on the interstate doing 70 is that normal?
b. i never over reved the engine to cause major damage like this and there is no water in the oil or nothing from it being in the mud hole. how did i bend a rod enjoying a trail which every 4x4 owner does.

I havent had the truck 10 days which i think is our state law time period for a "lemon" vechile do you think the damage was caused from a little mud hole or do you think there was a problem when i bought it and it just had a patch job on it which went out when i got it on the trail. Im tryin to figure out if i fix or give it back and tell them its a p.o.s and wont run.

Did it stall in the bog?

If so you may have hydrolocked it. Which can bend a rod, causing a knock.

yea it did stall soon as i hit the hole

and how much does it cost to replace 1 rod if it hasnt chipped up the block or nothing yet?
