Hey boys, check out how WARM IT IS HERE!!

Yeah, we are in a bit of a deep freeze here in ALberta. - 30 C with wind chill of somewhere -45 C. We had 3 foot snow drifts here at work. You try pushing/pulling a frozen F-550 through that!

I love my job, I love my job..............................

Ya, I know , mortals like to wear jackets when it rains.

but people still get all bundled up when its like 50- wtf

Ive been to washington and they wear less layers when its like 30

I love the rain and snow - doesnt happen enough in california for me

Its 56 here in California- Can you believe people are wearing jackets?

F___ this, I want to move to washington
NO!!! We have enough Californians up here already :temper: :icon_cheers:
And trust me, most of washington sucks, 98% rain, 1% snow and 1% sun...

Well Danger Ranger, had 23 below here in Wisconsin Sat morning, 39 above today and 7 above for Wednesday. I take it you are working on the big oil sands project up there? If so, we got a load heading you way. Truck is 196 foot long, load is at 190,000 lbs. That must be one hell of a project going on up there. That back truck has the remote control to stear the rear axle and allow it to back up somewhat.

-43F Below in Fairbanks last night, no wind. Dang Mac what ya got about 84 wheels on the ground on that rig? Neat.

lookin at that truck I have to laugh alittle bit. ya see currently my company is complaining that our trucks are not getting 7+mpg. that rig can;t possibly get anything better than 3.

Same chart in F and C:

I don't really mind when it's this cold out. My snowmobile runs better, and it's funny to see how much of an inconvenience the weather is for people who aren't prepared. :D

Yes sir, actually in school for 4 more months then i'll be working on the big ol oilsands project.

I'm sure i've showed everyone some of the equipment coming up the highway to put the puzzle together, but maybe i haven't showed you this one. Mammoet (a european company) does all the high/heavy loads up here and i've seen quite a few "world's largest" stuff comin up the highway.. Take for example the coker they brought a few years ago.. 1.7 million pounds, took 7 trucks to get it up "super test" hill. heh 4 in the front pullin and 3 in the rear pushin

Hey boys, check out how WARM IT IS HERE!!

heres a reactor they brought up here from edmonton, 1.1 million pounds

Hey boys, check out how WARM IT IS HERE!!

i wish i could find the pic of them going up super test, it's quite a sight, they actually had to shut the highway down going north to the oilsands plant sites just to move it.

Back to the weather, it's starting to warm up a bit, still is cold however -29*C is warmer than the -55*C we experienced this morning, i agree with brendan i have no trouble with the cold, i ride snowmobiles so.. heh i'm surprised the 96 still starts, i havent plugged it in either nights and it has fired up like a champ, set the tcase in neutral and the tranny in 1st and it warms everything up fairly quickly, only problem is when its that cold and icey it takes quite a bit of work to move because the front diff oil is just like a rock heh :D

here's a good article about the heavy stuff they haul up here

Danger,
Thanks for the pictures, I guess I got a little side-stracked from the weather. Can't believe the weather up there and having to do all the construction and erection required in those conditions.

talk about weather.... we've got winds over 50km/h and flash freezing.... My brother and I just had to go outside and cut apart a canopy(5:00am) with the grinder. It was bolted to the deck by the pool, BOLTED. The bolts on 2 corners were torn out of the deck, and it blew over and folded over the fence and into the satelite dish. The glasstop table that was under the canopy was blown into the pool, along with a dozen chairs.
Powers gone out on us twice, and being outside in my pjs was friggin cold. haha..... i love canada :P

EDIT:
Apparently winds are now anywhere up to 120km/h.... thats not fair, everytime i go that fast i get a ticket:P haha
