I have been chasing my tail on this one and could really use some help. The problem started out with my 92 randomly dying while driving. I couldn't find a rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it would be off idle, sometimes while steady cruising down the highway. It never had any problems restarting, I would just throw it in neutral and turn the key off then back to start and it would start right back up and I'd be on my way. On longer drives (this is not my daily driver so I don't take it out for long drives normally) it would happen more and more frequently as time went on. So while I was trying to figure that problem out in the driveway, I noticed that rpms drop significantly when I goose the throttle at idle. I figure the two must be related, but who knows.
So far here is what I have done (I know throwing parts at the problem isn't good troubleshooting, but this has been going on for a while and I really need to get this running reliably because I have to do a bunch of suspension work to my other Ranger):
-Hooked up fuel pressure gauge and watched while I goosed throttle and rpms dropped. No drop in fuel pressure, stays constant
-Replaced fuel filter anyways cause it was due
-Replaced the spark plugs. Curiously they were VERY clean. Like maybe there is a lean condition?
-Pulled the serpentine belt off to see if rubber in crank pulley deteriorated. Seemed fine, no wobbling.
-looked for vacuum leaks using homemade smoke source. From this I replaced the charcoal canister, used hose clamps to secure vacuum lines to throttle body.
-Pulled the throttle body off and cleaned it out thoroughly
-Replaced PCV valve
-Replaced fuel cap
(this is where I started getting frustrated and made a large RockAuto purchase)
-Replaced the Ignition Control Module
-Replaced the MAF sensor
-Replaced both exhaust and intake coils
-Replaced Idle Air Control valve
-Replaced Throttle Position Sensor

Still nothing has seemed to work. I still get the steep drop in RPMs when I goose the throttle from idle. Any thoughts? Could the fuel pump be going out even though fuel pressure shows good when the hesitation happens. Could it be Crankshaft Position Sensor? Any easy ways to check that? Is there anything else that should either be delivering more fuel or adjusting spark on off idle?

This is a 92 2.3L with manual transmission, no AC.

Thanks for any help!
