here is a update on my 2.9 ranger 4wd 1987 taht still wont run when it gets warm:bawling::bawling:

i have good fuel pressure to the fule rail i forget what is spec buts it right there. 40-45 psi i think. i have spark right to the plugs. i have put a noid light on the injectors and they are working properly. Now for teh updates i did a full complete tune up on it, changed teh fuel filter, bought a brand new ECM ( brain box) bought a brand new tfi module as you all call it. ( bolts to the back of the dizzy). i even hooked it up the a diagnostic to see if it spit out any codes; yes it did told me the EGR was out of range" so i pluged it off and by passed it. Some one had asked me on here if i tried to use starting fluid on it to see if it would start up again after it got warm. I tried that today too and NOPE will not start. cranks over fine but will not run when it gets warm. i am tottally out of ideas. im starting to fell i should have never bought it. :( :annoyed: is it possible that the cat converter is getting plugged? OH, i also checked for knicked or broken wires in teh pigtail that plugs into the TFI, they are fine. anyboyd got anymore ideas?

i was just about to say check your cat. unbolt it befor the cat and try it.

If I remember right you were saying that it will run for 30-40 minutes before it quits? That to me would definitely rule out plugged up cats. If it's plugged up bad enough to kill the engine then it would die much sooner than that. Ford cats aren't really known for getting plugged anyway...Chrysler on the other hand is notorious for that.

Have you gotten the TFI module tested, even the new one? It is possible that you got a bad one from the store. Most parts stores can test them.
