yea i have access to air tools...yea its starting to chip off on the fenders...use a sanding wheel and sand it off or whould hand sanding work better..im thinkin about doint the cheap camo paint job this summer..so im not too worried about my paint thats on there...ill show you a pic if i can find it of what it looks like right now...
I would use a DA air sander, it'll go nice and quick.
It doesn't need to be sanded smooth, as the herculiner is bumpy itself. Just needs to be sanded well enough that it will adhere well, you don't wanna go through all that work to just have it chip off.
I'd get some 60 or 80 grit and stratch the crap out of it. Then do it again. And be sure to mix the container well. I didn't really do either of those, and mine is fairly easy to stratch off. I also was on the second coat when I noticed the bottom 1/3 of the container was solid chunks. So the last coat was really chunky and the first two weren't at all. Oh well...
Remember that unless you add a UV inhibitor, this stuff peels off relatively fast depending on where you live. Didn't last very long in a pickup bed of mine. They do offer the UV protectant now but I have yet to see it for sale at the same places that sell the liner.
Ok thanks all for the pointers...so sand down whats on there right now..fix up the rust or just go over it??? lol...I live in northern michigan...then apply 2 or three coats according to directions...adding a UV protectant...if you do evertying correctly approx how long with it last me?
