Hi. Two weeks ago I bought a 88 ranger xlt. 2.9 with a 5 speed standard trany. On the way to work, three days ago, it died. It has no presure on the fuel rail. All 3 pumps seam to be working, and the filter is clear. What else can I check?

try the fuel pressure regulator....might be jammed open.

Check to see if any of the lines are broken and leaking. I've seen a couple RBVs that had a problem with a hole rusting in the lines where they come out of the top of the gas tank on the sender.

Fuel pressure regulator would be another thing to check.

Replace the fuel filter if you haven't done it, they can clog up.

There should only be two pumps unless it was one of the Rangers that got dual tanks. Check to make sure that both humm for a second when the key is turned to the on position (one will be in the tank, one will be on the frame under the drivers door - the inside of the frame that is).

I hada honda did the same thing, we changed the pump and nada, I took the fuel rail apart and manually cycled some fuel through it, turns out it was just clogged from too long with dirty filter. disconnect teh fuel lines from the rail. Turn it over for no more htan 2 seconds, preferably have a friend with a catch pan. Then if you have a compressor spray the rail with air, hook it back up run the pump for a few seconds then try to start it.

Just because the pump is running doesn't mean it is pumping. Crack it at the filter and turn it on. Fuel? If you get fuel flow downstream of the filter, pressure regulator. If it is working, you have a mechanical blockage in the rail.
