help

il check it all 2morrow, its too cold out to go look....i need a place to work

Since i have owned it (Little over a year), it has only had the lifter ticking for about a minute. I just replaced the oil and that was that lol. Hasn't come back yet

well if i cant find another 2.9 then maybe a 4.0 is in the works

Here's an idea..................

Take the engine, wire harness, & puter, along with trans & t/case out of your project truck, install all that into your daily driver.

Convert your project truck to a 4.0.

Of course, it would be less expensive to just replace your 2.9 with a good running engine from a boneyard.

There's an 88 B2 XLS at work that got smashed in the left front pretty good & it starts up & runs good. I'll check tomorrow & see what they want for the whole thing. It has 98K original miles. If it's cheap enough, you could use the 2.9 out of it & part out the rest maybe to recoup some of the cash.

if i can find a 4.0 for a good pice that runs and is complete ill just throw it in there...:D

Forget the CD2, get a can of Marvel Mystery Oil. Been using it for years, and it's never failed to quiet noisy lifters for me. Even on an '87 Jetta with 283k on it (I know, those aren't really lifters, they're cam followers, but same principle).

ive got 200k on mine, it doesnt even tick when its cold. i did have a tick shortly after i swapped the engine into the truck but i used the CD2 you guys are talking about (yellow bottle, black cap?) and i havent heard a sound since.

i wish u were closer
id give you the 2.9 outa my truck(parts truck)
idk bout miles, but it runs

ill figure out what kinda miles it has(i gotta pick it up)

got good news! it was just a pice of carbon and my fan clutch is wasted
