I am looking for some help writing a custom tune for the following set up. The tune will be an initial tune simply to get the truck started for the first time. I am not sure the OEM tune will allow the truck to fire with the modifications I have performed. I am using a SCT X4 7015 tuner. Please let me know if you can write a tune and e-mail it to me for this application (1999 Ford Ranger).

2001 Mercury Mountaineer ECM, engine harness, 5.0 V8, OEM Mass Air, OEM throttle body.

Stock GT40 upper and lower, Upper has been gasket matched on both ends, lower has been gasket matched and ported the entire length of the runners.

Throttle body elbow has been gasket matched on both ends.

24 lbs injectors.

Comp Cam Xe264-14
Adv Dur 264 Int, 270 Exh
Dur @ .50: 212 Int, 218 Exh, Lobe Sep: 114.0
Valve Lift .512 Int, .512 Exh

EGR is intact.

Stock crank.

Scat I beam Rods.

Silvolite 3101HC+.030, 1605 compression height. Hyper coated pistons.

Fully Ported GT40P heads, 1.6 stock rockers.
1. Trim and knock down the valve guide bumps in both intake and exhaust bowls
2. Back-cut the intake valves for better flow
3. Widen the push rod pinches to gasket-match the intake ports
4. Rough edge cleanup on the bowl / Bowl Blending
5. Increase & smooth the short side radius in the intake port
6. Raise/lower the intake port floor
7. Gasket match the intake ports
8. 3 angle valve job
9. Surfaced, approx. .004

Torque Monster Headers.

Full Mandrel bent 2 ½ dual exhaust, no cats, off road x pipe.

Does have Upstream O2’s but down stream O2’s are deleted.

5 speed manual trans.

What ecu code are you running, do you want pats deleted, and what octane fuel are you running?

The code on the ECM is as follows.

HCL4
ML2-8C1A 9B15
XL6F-12A650-HE. G

Yes, PATS deleted.

Plan to run 93 octane, Super No Lead.

Thank you for the help. I am almost ready to turn the key for the first time. I still have a few loose items but it is getting close to test fire. I am sure it will be ready by my goal of the end of 2014.

Would it be possible for you to get an EQE1, EQE2, or EQE3 ecu? I don't have a license for your ecu code, yet...

Yes, I can do that. Let me start shopping around. I can usually find them for about $30.00.

I can get you started, but where you bought the handheld from, if bought new, they are supposed to include 3 free custom tunes with it. If they didn't, pm me...

Will a EQE3 from a 2000 Explorer work? I am 95% sure the one I have is for a 2001 Mountaineer? I imagine the pin out is the same or does it matter? I will pm you later from home.

What MAF are you running? What size fuel pump?

Got it. Wrote the tune last night. It'll be close for a baseline run. Once the engine is through its break in period, then it can tuned for power/economy...
