Help with the crooks at the assessors office

im in ontario canada and ours isnt much better this is how it works when you first get the vehicle no matter what you paid for it they go buy the blue book price usually the highest but if you pay to have it appraised $250 they will go by the appraisal value you then have to buy a vehicle package $35 the you pay tax on the price of the vehicle of 8% and then every year you pay $80 for your license plate sticker and if you live in toronto there is now some new vehicle tax of $60 a year then you have to get your f***ing e-test (smog test) every 2years $35 if it passes if you cant make it pass you have to keep putting money into it untill it passes or you reach $450 then you have to do it all over again now i think that works out to something like $150 a year after your initial purchase and tax and providing there are no issues with the e-test so i would be happy with $25 for every $1000 that meens i would pay 75 for my truck and 25 for the van thats a difference of 200 a year

If you added some punctuation we could understand what on earth you just said.

As a follow-up, I sent to the assessors office the following items; a printout of the online version of the N.A.D.A. value which is what they use, a copy of the N.A.D.A. guidelines for condition, a request on how they determine value and 2 ads for local Rangers for sale. The closest was a 97 with 70K miles for $1,500.00. Well someone finally came to their senses and they came back with a assessed value of a little over 1K, which is 70% of the total value, and I can live with that.

The N.A.D.A. site is not the easiest to use, there was only an option for a V6 flareside or styleside and then you had to check the 4 cyl. option and the w/o automatic transmission and the w/o A/C...... What is Styleside? I'm pretty sure mine is not a flareside. Anyway you can fight city hall, just have as much information as possible and let e'm have it....

Way to go, ZackB. Too many people just complain about the government screwing them; it's a good thing to see when somebody actually does something about it. You did good, man.
