i got the cartridge fuel filter housing loose, but how do i get to the actual filter? unscrew or what????

What year is the truck? It has two fuel filters. The one you are fighting and one in front of the fuel pump on the rail. I had to remove the one your talking about and "unscrew" it in a vise. If it is not an 86 it might not have a filter in it? Be careful unscrewing it or you be going to picka and pull for another one?

say again

what year of ranger you talking about

yes it unscrews....be gental with it...do not tap on the bottom of this ..it is pretty thin....some have better success removing the canister housing off the frame (disconnect the hoses) and get it on the bench where you can effectively get a strap wrench or a filter wrench on it and have better control.

one more thing,,how do i get the gas to stop sripping from the fuel line once i take it loose??????

Manual recommend jacking up the front end to help stop a siphon effect.

To stop the dripping of fuel do this. Unplug the fuel inertia switch located on the passenger side firewall inside the cab. Start the engine and it will burn the gas in the fuel line up. Disconnect fuel line. This is how the Haynes manual says to do it. I have done this and it works.

After complete re-connect Inertia switch wire and press down reset button on top. Start your Bronco and listen to it purrrrrrr!
