I have a 1999 Ford Ranger with a 3.0 V6 and was an automatic transmission 4x4 pick up truck. The automatic transmission failed after 107,000 miles. I purchased a 5 spd manuel transmission from a 1998 ranger . I also purchased the proper pedal assembly , clutch and hydro. operating parts as well as the proper steering column assembly. To make sure all would work properly , I found a 1999 ranger in a recycling yard that had a manuel 5 spd trans. and the same V6 that I was able to purchase the entire engine wire harness as well as the ECM computer so it would work together. After installing everything which included putting the ignition key cylinder and the exciter ring from the my original column in the truck , I attempted to start it. With the manuel trans. ECM , it cranks but no start. I tried to reinstall the original ECM. It started but would not idle . It was throwing about 4 or 5 engine codes all looking for signals from the previous auto. trans. From what I can tell , the man. trans. ECM is not working with the PATS system from my original truck and is not allowing the fuel pump to run. The fuel pump and ignition system all works with the original ECM but will not idle so everything else seems to work . Can the PATS system be altered to work with the new ECM or can the ECM be programed to work with my trucks PATS system? I really need to get my truck running again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
