i have a 1984 f150 302 that i am wanting to put in my 91 ranger but i dont exactly posess so much knowledge of the matter. anyhow, my main concern is of the front suspension. Can anyone tell me what kind of prep work and or purchases would need to be made to accomodate the 302? if it makes any difference the oil pan is a fairly flat one, compared to the 91 model f150 engine that i have for parts. And i dont have a transmission for it but im in pursuit of a world class t5.

u will need atleast a 1 inch bl unless u can squeeze it in there and then u are gonna need to have a lift instaled or coil spacers for the front so it sits level thats what i have heard so far

Bodylifts are not required but do help.

A stock 302 is only about 100lbs heavier than a V6 so the front suspension is usually ok aside from maybe needing realigned. My old springs were sagging with the V6 and the V8 didn't do them any favors... basically they were shot. So I stuck in some new replacement springs for an Explorer and gained a little lift out of the deal.

There is a ton of info in the tech library and the V8 Swap forum.

You need to swap a trans and electrical harness, rear end as well. Stock rear won't hold up to a bigger motor unless you are gonna baby it. So...more expense to think about.
