yeah, actually I had this problem and it was with brake lights also. Look right back under the rear bumper where the wires come down from the wiring harness and there is a place where you can make a connection for trailer lights by unplugging the two connectors from each other. What will happen is that the wires will vibrate over time and snap right in front of one or the other connector. I had to butt connect the wire and my brakes worked fine. Of course, before that I replaced the brake switch on the brake pedal and read the Chilton's manual for two days before a real mech told me what to look for. Saved me lots of time hunting for the problem. He said that normally he finds this kind of problem within an inch of a factory connector. So look next at those first and then look elsewhere. Butt connectors are cheap. Maybe that will help.
