If you can't find a complete 2.3T setup, just grab a spare efi 2.3 and call it a day.

just curious, what are the benifits of swaping a 2.5l long block in and use the 2.3 efi stuff? how much more go-go will the extra .2L get me? what are the drawbacks?

dang, id snatch that up in a second if you were closer! thanks for the offer though

im mainly after a direct drop in motor, but a little extra work may not be out of the question. its better to have a fresh motor ready to drop in and have 1 day of down time, then have your motor crap out and nothing readly avalible to drop in...

I think the 2.5Ls offer a little more low end torque. You should get a 2.3 Duratec.

slant 6 with a single carb!!

what???

yea, thats wazzup.

the one thing i dont like about the 225 is the fact thats its only got 4 main bearings, stock, not enough power to hurt its self but dump some cash to make em faster and they wont last as long

@sunk 2.3 duratec eh, why you say that? not a big fan of OBD-2 systems or dealing with engine spaghetti. OBD-1 systems were not to bad as the ECMs were only 60 pins.

ive thought about 4.0s but heard there gas thirsty but have good low end torque

actually, a slant 6 may be a good idea!!!! its shorter than a ford falcon 6 and is lower.

time to do some research! :c-n:

i like manuals but it seems like most slants came with 3 speeds... id probly have to use a custom driveshaft... looks i need to go buy another ranger with a blown engine as a project... i also read that the slant could pull 30mpg in dusters :shok:

what are your guys opinions on the slant 6? besides obvious engine fitment/trans issues. what are the problems there known for?

mine was pretty strong and reliable in my '72 duster. idk bout 30mpg but, its still runnin good (i sold it to my friend)

i guess i can say every manufactur has its gems and its turds, some more turds than gems, seems like the slant 6 is mopars crown jewel...

oh boy its gona be fun finding a 5 speed that would work, ive got a couple of ideas
take a 225 with its 4 spd manual bell and trans and add a second trans on the back and have an 8 spd!!! gwaii did this in a ranger...

2: make a custom bellhousing from 1/4inch plate steel, sounds like fun..... atleast this way i can incorperate that chrysler fluid drive system into it too :icon_twisted:

C: take a 225+bellhousing and make a spacer..

mama, im crazy now....

seeing how this wont be a drop in engine, i'll buy another ranger as a project to work on and use my current ranger as a DD. if my 2.3 ever goes, i'll just slap in a used 2.3 and save the money for the slant 6 ranger. i also need to get my welder hooked up too so it looks like it'll be a while before i stick up a build thread...
