The tag on my diff says S326a 08 88 0k11. I found an online document that only mentions the S326a part and says: Ranger 90-94 3.08 8.8 NL. It doesn't mention the splines. This came up in another thread of mine while looking at lockers, but now this is the primary question. Can anyone shed some light on what splines I have? Thanks.

that's an 8.8 with 3.08 gears (the 3 in the bottom row is under the bolt head), and if it's a ranger 8.8 other than an FX4 level 2 (only available in pretty new trucks) it is a 28 spline axle...

Do you know if there is only one carrier that fits this profile? Looking at lockers, I found a Powertrax and the part number is 92-0688-2807. But, the description mentions an 80-86 8.8. Does this sound like it will fit? That part number in Google says: Ford, Open, 3/4" shaft, 8.8.

That sounds like the correct one from searching the part number. The 80-86 description is wrong, I believe that only applies to 31 spline 8.8s which had 3/4 cross-pins, all of the 87+ had 7/8 crosspins. All of the 28 spline 8.8s (what you have) are 3/4 crosspins,

You should also get rid of those 3.08 gears while you're at it.

Haha, yeah those 3.08 are a bit high. But, I haven't lifted it yet. Once i do, and get bigger tires, i'll definitely change them out.

I have 3.55's I'd give you....

3.55 would probably be a good all around choice too. I'd be happy to buy them off you. Looks like you aren't far from here either.

that's why I mentioned it :)
