Help Finding PCV Valve on 2001 4.0 SOHC

Can't find it for the life of me. Haynes guide doesn't show much. Have a Ford Service Manual on one of the cd's and that thing is a POS for that. Any help is appreciated, photos are to die for. Thanks.

I am assuming it is like my old 02 SportTrac (maybe not??) and it is located on the back side of the drivers valve cover towards the firewall. It is kinda a pain to get to and it actually twist into the back of the valve cover. It has a "U" shaped metal tube around it that hooks to two small coolant hoses. I don't know for sure if the Ranger uses the same set up.

I just replaced mine. It is on the left side (drivers) at the end of the valve cover, it is pushed right into the back end of the valve cover, not the top, the side end. It is has a large hose coming out the back toward the firewall and two smaller hoses, one comes up and runs over the top of the engine to the right side top heater core hose. It is a PITA to get out and you have to watch because the two smaller hoses have coolant in them and it runs out.

Found it! Now how the hell does it come out? I'm guessing I have to disconnect one or both of the coolant hoses that are wrapping around it. Easy to get the pcv valve hose off of it. Been pulling on the actual valve for a while with no luck. Any clues?

So do you have to remove both coolant hoses before you can unscrew the valve?

Remove both hoses, and it will twist out.

It helps to look at the new valve to see how the old one works. I couldn't get enough leverage to twist the old one out and I couldn't remove one of the hoses, so I used a pair of pliars to GENTLY turn it and pop it out.

I will never replace that POS again, what a PITA location for it. Glad they last 100-150k.

Then again, after replacing the spark plugs on the right side of the engine, anything else seems like cake.

I'm in the process RIGHT NOW,of replacing the plugs on my 4.0 V-6,so can ANYONE on here,give me some help on HOW to get at the LAST PLUG (nearest the firewall) on the passenger-side bank??? I was able to remove the other 5,but THAT ONE,is impossible due to my air-conditioning unit being in the way!!! Whoever "designed" it that way,must've had his HEAD up his AZZ that day!!! Any inquires will be extremely helpful!!! Thanks guys!!!

Jack that side up. Remove the right front tire. Remove the inside fender/engine cover. The right side spark plugs are accessible from there.
