the power steering and trans take the same fluid
No.
I'm guessing a cooler line is leaking too.
the power steering and trans take the same fluid
they both are pretty high, though the trans fluid could use some topping up
and how do i go about changing my trans filter?
thanks
Drop the pan, clean out the bottom of the pan really well, unbolt filter and pull it out. Bolt in the new filter, DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN, pay attention to how snug they are when you remove them. If you strip them out, you are ****ed. Also, trans fluid is checked while engine is running.
The pan bolts also are pretty snug. Remember that you're putting steel bolts into an aluminum housing. Nothing should be super tight or else it will strip. Overtightening will also wreck your brand new gasket. Most would use a torque wrench, but I don't have one that would work well for these small measurements and would likely end up over tightening. Always have just done them by feel, that's actually how my dad taught me when I was 16.
Replace with fluid and start the truck, put it through all of the gears while setting still, recheck fluid and refill until full. Do not overfill!
