Help ASAP

So I am trying to take the cross pin out and it wont come out due to it hitting the ring gear. I can slide it down half way and am trying to take the top gear in the carrier out but it wont come out either. Do I just have to pull harder or I am I missing something?

It is notched you have to turn it 90* at it will slide half way out, enough to remove the c-clips, you can also take a dremel to the inside edge of the ring gear and clearance it and it will come out, this does not hurt the ring gear because the pinion doesn't contact it there.
