Help..... A/c drier question

I JUST BOUGHT A 94 RANGER AND I WAS LOOKING AT THE ENGINE AND NOTICED THAT THERE LOOKS LIKE A SENSOR OR SOME TYPE OF CONNECTION THAT IS MISSING FROM THE A/C DRIER; DO ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS IS?

Clutch cycle pressure switch ? Anyone else ? I have to think its a pressure switch of some sort,,,,,

Does your AC work currently as is ?

low side pressure switch, AKA cycling switch. look for the 2 wire plug in somewhere close to the switch

THE A/C WORKS BUT IT DOES NOT BLOW COLD AIR..... I JUST BOUGHT THIS TRUCK TWO WEEKS AGO AND THERE ARE SOME THINGS MISSING UNDER THE HOOD AND THIS WAS ONE OF THEM. I WILL BE POSTING MORE PICS TO FIND OUT WHAT THE OTHERS ARE AS WELL BUT, THANKS FOR THE INFO GUYS...

You are right it is the a/c clutch cycling switch. Can anyone tell me what exactly plugs into it????

There should be a plug right around the the sensor that runs through a wire loom straight over to the AC compressor.

If that system is empty of refrigerant (and it likely is), have it checked for leaks. If an AC system has been opened for any length of time, there will be alot of moisture present in the system. When moisture meets R134a, it forms hydrochloric acid which will eat your aluminum AC system in short order. Even if you try to vacuum it at ~30Hg there will be moisture present in the accumulator/receiver-drier. Chances are that you will be replacing a few components. Get your wallet ready if you want a proper repair. One more thing - DO NOT USE SEALER OF ANY SORT IN YOUR SYSTEM!!!!! It gums up everything it contacts.

PS- I do a tonne of AC work and what I'm telling is based on experience.

chage the reciviever dryer,the orfice tube,and flush the system out, then evacuate the system to 30 in vacume and let it sit for an hour with the gauges hooked up to see if it holds before you put the freon in the vacume is cheaper than freon.
