HELP!! 2wd vs. 4wd Coil buckets

Is there a difference between 2wd and 4wd coil buckets on an 89 ranger???
Mine are badly rusted and need replaced. Found a 2wd 86 ranger in junkyard with perfectly non rusted ones.....
How about off a different vehicle?? I dont have money to buy aftermarkets....

They are slightly different.

You can also get them off any '83-'97 Ranger, or any 2wd or 4wd Bronco II (2wd BII's use 4wd coil buckets).

The difference is in the "rivet pattern" (I can't call it a "bolt pattern" can I?)
that mounts the spring bucket to the side of the frame rail.

I can't recall offhand if one or two of the rivet holes was relocated, but the relocation is purely related to the position of the rear vertical flange of the engine crossmember.

there is a clearance issue Vs on of the rivets so it's in a different position 2wd Vs 4x4.

It's a "problem" quickly correctable with a 1/2" drill.

The OTHER difference isn't so easy to deal with.

The shape of the hole where the upper end of the brake hose
mounts is a different shape 2wd Vs 4x4.

One is round with a flat side, the other is hex shaped with a rounded corner
and I can never remember which is which, but whichever it is you can correct the problem with either a file or a die grinder.

However should you do so, understand that the upper end of the
brake hose will be free to move slightly and that can cause
metal fatigue issues with the rigid brake line that connects to it.
