hello

Ah ok that makes more sense. I haven't seen anything that definitively says that the internals are different yet. but people have the run the N/A turbos with more boost than the stock TT, so I think I should be ok at stock vr4 boost levels when I put that setup on.

Apparently the internals are slightly different, but as long as i don't run more than 10 lbs I will be fine(according to the stealth/3k forums). now just for transmission issues.

I wouldn't worry to much if your planning on an auto transmission just make sure you have a good cooler set-up. If your looking for a manual transmission thats where I think you'll run into some issues.

If you have access to a cutting torch or a shop. You could always try a custom set-up. Call Clutch masters. I think you can custom order a clutch disc from them with the correct spline count for the transmission your attaching to.

Custom trans options really boil down to bell housing, clutch plate and input shaft length.

I'm either gonna run an auto or a shifted auto. it would be easy to run the montero trans(I think), I'm just not sure how much power its good for.

If you don't neutral slam it or dog it from a dig I think you'll be alright. I would worry about the rear end when your wheels catch traction and put the 300+ ft/lbs of torque through the differential. Is your goal to turn this into a drag truck? Or an off road truck? Off Road I would worry more about the axles breaking. As long as the transmission is kept cool the clutches shouldn't slip very bad especially if your using a manual auto. You may want to look into a decent mid stall torque converter and see if there is any upgraded valve bodies for that transmission.

This is an offroad truck. My rear end is an 8.8 so it will take whatever torque this motor will throw at it. I'll probably run a fairly large trans cooler, maybe on the bedcage with a good E-fan.

Man good luck with everything. If you need help with your build let me know. I still have a lot of mitsu tech floating in my head.

I looked the engine over yesterday man a turbo is going to be a pita. I think it would be an easy fit on the exhaust but I may need to move it down near the oil pan. So much AC stuff in the way. I'm going to start posting some pics and ideas about it. I want to copy the focus sport stage 1 as much as possible in terms of turbo and injectors. I figure they will be able to tune it fairly easily is I mimic their set-up.

Thanks. Luckily I just found the 6G72 RWD engine swap forum lol. forums totally dedicated to 6G72 swaps in RWD cars. Even better news is that the montero trans a RWD version of the AW4 thats in some jeeps... and the supra :D

A lot of guys have turboed that motor, I'd just check out the turbo section just down the forum.

I really couldn't find anything on the 2.3 duratec I think I'll start my own. It will be at least a year before I can do it though.

Yeah I understand that. I'm surprised there isn't anything for that motor. when did they go to the duratec?

2001-2002 I think. There is a few turbo kits for the focus. Same engine and same block as a mazda speed 6. But this is one of the tightest engine bays I've seen in a truck. If I do go turbo I will have to feed the turbo outlet down and come back up to the air box. Shouldn't be too bad with a little bit of welding.

That's surprising. seems to be plenty of room around the v6 in mine...

Sounds like a fun build.

Yeah it will be fun and it won't be to hard. I think I will get my turbo and manifold from fswerks along with the fittings, hoses, injectors, and tune. All I would really need to fab is a downpipe and route the turbo outlet under the truck and then up to the factory air box. I can even leave the intake tubing alone. It should look completely stock actually.
