Just found the time to sign in here, I've been lurking for a few months. I am a new owner of a '98 Ranger XLT 4 x 4, extended cab 4.0 automatic, loaded with most options. First, I want to thank whoever put the information in the buying a used Ranger section, it helped a lot.
The Ranger is my, go to the landfill, home improvement store and drive in winter vehicle, not my daily driver. I have a Monte Carlo SS that I drive daily, but it was not the best in some heavy snow this winter, and since I am on the fire department, I need to be able to go through anything winter can throw at me. I have had 3 Chevy Silverado's in the past, and my last winter vehicle was a Suburban, but I could not stand the $90.00 fill ups and the 12 MPG. I sold that last fall while I still could. I was first looking for an S-10, but decided that the Ranger seemed to be a better built truck and had fewer maintenence issues. So far I am very pleased with the truck, especially since I got it for only $3000.00. And thanks to this site I fixed the interior light problem that the first owner was stumped on (door switch). Other than that, some lights in the dash and 1 spring shackle the truck was great, and I already took care of all those issues.
Anyway, thanks for the help finding a great truck.
