Recently got myself a 99 Mazda B3000 and I figured this was a good place to get some info on it.
I also have a 94 Suzuki Sidekick JLX
And a 86 Ford F350 2wd, 4sp, diesel, dually dump, that has seen better days.
Best car I ever owned was a 83 Mustang 5lt, that I bought new.

Welcome to TRS...

Markham is just south and west of me a bit...so you must be getting some of this snow...

Do you still drive the Zuke? I have a starter and signal switch from my 95...it was a great little truck/car...and I miss the automatic tranny sometimes on short hops but love my Ranger 5 speed...

I still use the Sidekick, it's way better in the snow than the 2wd pick up, but it doesn't carry very much stuff, that's the main reason I bought the Mazda.
Wanted a smaller more fuel efficient pick up truck, couldn't find a good light duty full size one so I got the Mazda.

My Zuke was pretty good in the snow...not so on hills with ice...but I only used the 4 wd a few times...if they had a bit more weight in the back end they'd be awesome...

My 2wd Ranger holds its own in the snow with a bit of weight too...I usually carry about 100 lbs in the bed to give it what it needs to bite the snow...and the 5 speed really helps things...I've never driven an automatic 2 wd Ranger so I have no idea how they handle...I did drive a 4x4 recently and it was pretty good...just the regular cab size that scared me off...

I was actually surprised at how much I could stuff into the back of my Zuke though...and with the hard top roof racks it handled more...but the Ranger bed is great...used it for scrap "scavenging" as they call it now and could haul 700 lbs even with my little 2.3...not a bad payload...

If you happen to haul scrap they've recently implemented a by-law in Durham Region prohibiting it...so I'm limited now at how I can make some extra cash...

I don't know how they can do that???
I can see them ticketing for an unsafe, insecure load.

Well, only roadside collection of scrap...not if you're hauling something for someone...and they are enforcing it through 2 new BEOs...if you're caught picking up anything from the roadside they can fine you...sorry, should have clarified that...

Not sure about York Region...

I guess things change as time goes on.
I remember the days when they had cleanup week, everybody through every thing out, guys like me would go around, pick up what we could carry and sell it for scrap.

Yeah, those where the days....I found most people could care less If you took stuff left out for the township collection...but the township is losing money (37 million from our taxes and they can't stay within budget...go figure) and blaming it on the "scavengers"...

I offer it as a service but it's not the main focus of my business...it just gave me a good excuse to get up early and get out there and "scavenge" the junk piles...found some pretty interesting and useful stuff...like the computer I'm using right now...perfectly good "scrap" that someone grew out of...lol...
