Heck yes!

hey, i drive a jeep (for now), and its allright,
but it has enough problems just driving on the street that id be scared to wheel it

So is his Toyota. The profits just go over seas.

Global market for every large company. In fact I own 500 shares of Toyota stock yet my friend Raul just bought 1500 shares of Ford today at 2.32 a share. He lives in Spain.

Long story short, the profits from most of the worlds major companies are spread all over the world.

funny ...... she didn't strike me as being a pussy or a sorority girl.........

I know she is a girl ........ doesn't change the fact that jeeps are for pussies

sheesh, someone ate a bad apple off the tree.

my jeep aint no pussy either.....77 J-10, 360 still runs like a fucking champ for just sitting around in my yard for 14 years

oh and our plow truck, 74 j4000, has been running on the same oil change for 20 years, and pushes snow like nothing, and runs just as good as the other one

so i and im sure a shit load of people over at ifsja.org will disagree with your 401 statement.

Yes I currently have a Toyota. I have also had a handful of Jeeps. The only thing jeep has got right in the last 35 years was the 401ci V8. I have had major mechanical problems with every jeep i have had except the 3 that shared the same 401/TH400/Dana 20.

I understand the jeep thing, thats why I have a Toyota. other than a new clutch because some back yard mechanic wanna be with access to his own machine shop machined the step off of the LC flywheel, it has had no mechanical problem. it also has a disabled choke and fires up the first time every time even when its -10*F. can't say that for a carb'd jeep.

My Toyota has 9.5" ring gear and 35 spline shafts front and back from toyota ......... what was stock in your heep?

if jeeps are so bad ass then why are they upgraded from better parts from ford chevy or dodge?

as far as profits going overseas ..... I bought it used so the money stayed in the local economy.

so yes jeeps are for pussies, sorority girls, and mall crawling wanna be college punks.

Since mine is considerably newer it has lighter weight parts. However, the 4.0 I6 is possibly the best engine I have ever had. It always starts if it has gas in it and other than stuff I wanted to do to it and routine maintenance, it has yet to fail either on or off road. I have said it before, I'll put my XJ against a similarly modded anything that is daily driven anyday. It is a great combo of comfort, street use and off road fun. Sure it has D35 rear and D30 front. Like I said, it's newer and lighter. It also came with power everything and leather seats. How comfy is yours? I am not saying anything bad about your Yota other than it's not American made. I know several people that have them and they do very well off road. You like yours, I like mine. Apples and oranges.

had several of those fuel injected 4.0L I6. all 3 of them suffered from warped heads. glad you like yours........... doesn't change my opinion on them. They have become sissyfied and rely heavily on a reputation that they don't live up to anymore

So the new Land Cruisers are just as heavy duty as your '82? I doubt it. Back in '82 you could get a Wagoneer because the Cherokee wasn't made yet. It came with Dana 60 front and rear. Standard with a 360 I think or the 401 you talked about. It's difficult to compare eras. But hey, yours works for you, mine works for me.

I had an 87 Wagoneer (xj) and loved it. Only thing I didn't like was the fact that nothing electrical worked on it. It was comfortable, got good gas mileage, went everywhere I wanted it to go, and never once did I get stuck in the snow with it, even having street tires on. I wish I never sold it.

I would buy another one again. I really miss it. The 4.0 is a great engine.

my 73 waggy (that the 401 came from) had a D30 in the front and a D44 in the back. my 76 cherokee was quadratrac and D44 front and back. The 77 J10 had built D44 ....... stronger than stock d60. as far as the FJ Cruiser i'll get back to you but the FJ Cruiser is not a landcruiser ....... the 200 series landcruiser is the current model landcruiser. and for the record I don't like the new ones ....... tthe only new cars i like are the 2008 650 million hp saleen convertible and the Tundra (which is made in Kentucky)

Edit: the only thing i can find for axles on the FJCruiser is a link for ring and pinion for the Toyota 8" ............... comparable in strength to a ford 9"

The Wagoneer and Cherokee in 1982 were both the full-size versions came with a D44 front and rear and no option. The 258-6 and 360-8 were the available engines.

In '84 the full-size Wagoneer was called the Grand Wagoneer and the compact new ones were Cherokee and Wagoneer.

The 401 was available from '74-'78. After that, just the 258 or 360.

Old Wagoneers are around 4,000# curb weight. A new Explorer is much heavier. Old cars are always lighter than new cars. A 70's F150 is 1,000# lighter than a comparable new one.

I just thought of something (don't know why i didn't earlier) I also have 2 american cars.
a 1990 GMC Suburban with a dead transmission and a 1999 chrysler town and country that was built in Mexico City.............. Toyota Siena built in kentucky, Honda Odessy built in Ohio ....... Chrysler T&C built in Mexico......... hhhhhhmmmmm which car was built by americans?

hey Will .... I thought my Waggy was heavier than 4000 .... not much but it seemed to me it was around 4600 same as my LandCruiser and they were similar in size.

yeah i see ..... around 4000 pounds would include 4600 ...........

ACTUALLY LANDCRUISERS ALWAYS WERE AND STILL ARE MADE IN JAPAN! doesnt mean theyre crap... those old ones were bad ass, the new ones are glorified minivans. toyota builds some vehicles here, some in japan. a lot of the vehicles are still made in japan.... actually, most of them went down in quality since being made in america(i work in a toyota dealer). just for the record though..... ford is still the best!
