Last night I went to Taco Bell and when I started my truck back up I tried to turn the headlights on and it felt like the switch was stuck then it finally broke over and I didn't have any headlights!?? I was lucky to get home in the dark without getting pulled over. Went to Autozone today and checked the fuses and relays. I don't think this is the problem. I believe it is the light switch itself. I went ahead and bought this part since it was about $23. Now comes the fun part is changing this part. I've had it replaced once by a mechanic. How tough is this to do? I have a 1995 STX Extended Cab 4.0 V6 Ranger with the air bag and all the bells and whistles. So far from what I'm seeing is that you have to take off the steering wheel, instrument panels, instrument cluster, etc. It's really tough to see just what's going on with these directions. Any pointers out there??? :dunno:

Another thing I noticed is when I turn the switch on the side marker lights are on and the tailights too.

All the dash panels pop off minus the bottom one which is acouple of screws first. You should be able to just pop the panels off and replace the switch. Kinda hard to explain.

start pulling, if it doesn't pull off easily, go to the spot where it is stuck, and look for a bolt... keep doing this until your interior looks like this:

Update

Well, I knew how to take off the bottom panel since I changed my stop light switch under the dash not long ago. After I took that off I started taking off the aluminum? protective cover starting at the light switch and working my way to the right. I left in the last bolt at the top right corner and let it swing out of the way. Then I pulled on the panel near the air conditioning vent. There was one of those keepers at this spot, but when it popped out the switch flopped right down for me! :headbang: Got it put back in the slot and gave it a test and the headlights worked! The only problem is the fog lamps don't work anymore. I changed the fuse in the power distribution box and it pops that fuse everytime. Took it out and drove it and it seems to be running better?! The headlights are a lot brighter now too. It's almost like there is a short in my foglamps that drained my battery and power?! I'm just glad I've got headlights for now. Guess I'll have to check the foglamps later. Anyone know what might be causing this problem???
