Headlight Harness 1st and 2nd Gen

I noticed I can buy the heavy duty harness that plugs in place of the OEM set up. This tells me that the OEM harness is unpluggable as a unit (headlights, running lights, signals etc) Where would I find this plug so I can get a new harness to upgrade my front clip from 88 to 89-92?

from what i understood the heavy duty harness plugs into one of the headlight sockets for the signal for high low and the rest of the connections are direct to the battery
