Statistics will show you that you are dead wrong thinking that increasing the number of CCW holders increases violent crime. In fact, violent crime shows decreases in EVERY state that has passed CCW. Why? Because the perps think twice before robbing someone: 'is this guy armed? am i going to die in the attempt?'

IMAO, EVERYONE who is eligible should carry, with no restriction.

I agree with you and have heard those stats before. I can't find them to support my arguments. Would you be able to help me find those stats?

this happened in the county next to me. my girlfriend lives in the same town as the sheriffs office. my buddy used to live down the street from the guy. I know the guy, ive drank beer with the guy. I would be working for the sheriff right now if i had only gotten into shape and run my 1.5 mile faster. he is a nice guy but will hate you if you piss him off.

this is small town Iowa. Doug didnt give the guy the permit because he didnt like him. they go back many years and the whole argument started when Doug was a fresh deputy. i think it had something to do with the guy sleeping with doug's sister, or something like that. the guy also does not agree with doug's political beliefs and they have argued about it forever.

Do i believe Doug did the right thing? No. But i just thought i would clear up the story a little for you guys.

I can't see where a Sheriff has control of the CC permitting process. Here in Florida the application is sent to Tallahassee and the state issues them.

I think he is assuming we would rapidly kill off all the criminals. More than likely, they would just fade away into the background like the cowards they are. They are looking for easy targets. They won't openly challenge anyone they think is armed.

I don't feel the particular need to carry a gun. I have my MI ccw, I just feel the need to carry it. I can defend myself hand to hand... besides, nobody messes with me..... when I get out of my truck I look like one BAMF.
