Has it been extra dead in here lately?

Just gettin stuff ready for winter playtime. Haven't had any major problems lately either.

Trying to get garage finished so I can do my other B2 project. Its gettin a 4.0 and FW axles:D

hey im from south texas(weslaco) and your right winter here is rare(so is rain) LOL

What's up john man it's good to see another rgv resident on here lol add me!

It has been a little slow lately but think of all the things going on in fall:
Oktoberfest beers on tap at local pubs.
Harvest.
Football (and remember, some people actually go to the games! so they can't post while watching on their couch).
Lining up winter projects (that's what I've been doing lately, and still working on it).
And the ever popular work, job, career, school, whatever you want to call it.

I'm not exactly excited to pull the whole thing out for a bearing. I was reading some complaints on it, and a lot of people are experiencing drivers side failure only, which is my situation. There was also a theory I read that Fords torque value is not high enough on the shaft. I'll just put it back at factory (215 ft lbs IIRC).

The proper torque value is "when the gun stops spinning".

Be careful telling people that, you don't know how big his impact is....

When i was turning wrenches for the army we had a new kid come in that had never so much as changed his own oil before, i was charged with his training. We worked through his first few services with the book open doing everything to the letter the way the army wants it done. After i was confident he could do a service on his own i let him at it. I played dumb and served no other purpose than to be his tool bitch and to stop him from making any serious mistakes. I stepped away for maybe 5 minutes to go to the bathroom while he wrapped up the service. I came back to see him holding a 1" drive 1800lbs/ft impact with a 3/4" coupler and a 4" wheel bearing socket on it. The threads on the spindle were no longer.

Whats worse was i never once used an impact while i was training him. While i was gone one of the other techs saw him working with hand tools and said "hit it with an impact till it stopps spinning." he just picked the wrong impact.

At first i was pissed but then i thought well he's learned a valuable lesson and now he can learn another. "okay you know how we do services, time to learn repairs!"

I am working under the assumption that nobody here has tools capable of breaking their stuff that spectacularly, or that if they do, they are smart enough to know that and not go full throttle on it.

LOL, your underestimating people adsm!!! BUT, by reading shane's other posts, i think he can probably handle himself.

Over the years i've learned that its usually the stupid people that do have access to the tools to do that sort of damage. Meanwhile i have no proper tools and have to make due with what i have.

TRS has been a little slow lately. But I browse around on a gixxer forum lot and its been really slow lately too. There'll usually be around 10 threads a night on the general discussion, and lately its been about 2 or 3 warmed over. Maybe the weather is just right so people are out doing what they love instead of just talking about it lol. :dunno:

My project came to a screaming hault and relieved all my funds for an emergency room, new tires for the wifey, my 3 month old got sick, bachlor party..... now its getting to be cold and I haven't finished my heater for the garage yet. Hopefully I can get into the garage this weekend finish the heater and get back to wrenching.
