Hard turning even after replacing power steering pump

Connecting rods can usually be taken off with a tap of a hammer, either on the knuckle, or the end of the bolt stem. Just make sure to leave the nut on the end of the threads so you don't deform the threads.

No go with the puller, the end of it is too big for my pitman arm. Damn it. There isn't any room to get a hammer up in there to try and hammer it off.

But in order to check to see if the ps pump or the steering column is the culprit, several pages back someone says to take off the tie rods..

If you had got the fork like someone said maybe that was me you could have it apart just pop the tie rod connector off the pitman arm and you can tell if it is in the front end or the steering wheel to gearbox

Ok, got that crap off finally! I'm still getting the stickiness when I turn the wheel with the tie rods disconnected. I'm thinking POS PS pump.

first can you pull the steering colum back enough to break it loose from the gearbox and see if the column turns free without the gearbox connected.

You have changed the pump and gearbox and you still have the problem and it is not in the front end I am almost sure it is in the column

No i put it back on ground. I can't get the steering column off the gearbox, its on there pretty good.

Put it back up on jack, still sticky to turn with connecting rod.

can you go stop to stop and how much effort does it take it could be tite but as long as it is smooth both ways you should be ok did you give everything a shot of grease

Yeah, can go stop to stop, but not without some effort. It doesn't go smoothly at all. I do not have a grease gun, guess I will go buy one.

Ok now start the engine and turn the wheel is it sticky still or does it spin free dont turn it too far either way as you dont have the stops for the gearbox

It hasn't changed. Still sticking.
