Hard Start

Recently my Ranger is hard starting, especially after sitting hot for a few hours. It can take over six cranks to turn over. Once going, it runs like a champ.
In the past 8 months I have changed:
- spark plugs and wires
- cam synchro and position sensor
- all other normal maintenance like air filter, oil, did the Seafoam cleaning, etc.

I checked the vacuum side of the fuel prssure regulator, didn't notice any gas wetness, only a faint smell of gasoline.

Suggestions? Crank position sensor? Thanks!

Can you hear the Fuel Pump kick on right when you turn the key to 'Run'?

Can't tell. Will get a helper to turn the key while I am under the tank.
Also, no CEL. The problem seems worst after the car sits hot for about an hour.

I changed the fuel pressure regulator. The engine started right up!
So far, so good!

The engine has started OK since the PR replacement up until a few weeks ago. Now, it takes several cranks to start after sitting for a few hours. Also runs a bit rough when cold.
No CEL though. Runs good after warm-up.
I am perplexed. Could there be another sensor going bad? Coil pack?
Any suggestions?

If it takes several cranks, it could be slow on building fuel pressure.

Try turning the key on and off a few times, then try cranking it.
