it was...untill about 5 minutes after the photo was taken.a nasty squall blew out of nowhere.wind and rain were going sideways through the boat and waves as big as my truck were tossing me around so i had to hightail it back to port.
no fish today.oh well, that's spring in the north...you never know what's about to hit you.still better than work,though:icon_thumby:.

Agreed. I ended up calling out of work today. I felt so refreshed I finally had a chance to reorganize the vodka collection! Much better than work!

Catch anything Doc?
Awesome pic looks like the weather was great.

sounds like houston in winter - if you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes

Better luck next time....Still a good day away from work!
Got to ride the buggy Sunday, spent about an hour going round the pasture, found a sweet jump.
When I pulled up in the back yard my wife had been watcing me the whole time, she said everytime I hit the jump she could hear me laughing.I wanted to stay home from work today to ride it............I REFUSE to grow up!

i'll tell you the story of the one that got away....after i got off the open ocean int masset inlet the waves were much more manageable,so i dropped my halibut rig.first drop,nothing-so i pull up and move to another spot where i've gotten action before.

i pull off the brake on the downrigger, and let'er fly,but i didn't slow it down soon enough so the cannonball hits the bottom and the downrigger does another half-turn out, dropping a loop of cable around the base.so i reach down to pull it back onto the drum when a fish hits it and pulls it tight(hali's hit fast or not at all,i've found)so now ive got a fouled cable and a fish on the line.

as i'm trying to tie off the cable so i can get the line loose on the drum, the thing keeps pulling out the slack untill i have thirty feet more line out than depth...fifteen minutes of desperately trying to free the line and the rig snags....snapping the cable.

so now i've lost the fish, the hali rig($10),the cannonball($35),and have to replace the cable($25).first chance i get,i'm going back there to see if i can catch that bugger and hopefully it's still packing my gear around.

stupid fish:thefinger:

could be worse. we were in florida one time and a guy came into the tackle shop with a pair of electric reels. he walked up to the counter and told them that he needed 2000ft of monel wire put on each reel. said he was fishing for grouper. can't imagine what it took to break that.

that's what you get for not working on the GT and giving us more pics! lol

i guarantee calgary's worse, we've got a weather phenomenon called a "chinook" there's only 1 other place in the world that gets them, and they call them something else...

essentially, what it is, is a random blast of hot air, that can turn the temperature, often from -20ish to plus 10 celsius in a matter of hours, because of the drastic change in temperature, and the dry air in the area, it is not uncommon for a chinook to make over a foot of snow, disappear in 1 day, most of the snow melts, however, a good portion of it evaporates into the air, which is max, 55% humidity

chinooks have been recorded to have raised the temperature 41* celsius, in 60 minutes

Shoot we call that Mondays here in Cleveland OH! Especially during the transition we call spring :icon_confused:

i should mention that chinooks only happen in the winter, and last a maximum of a week, though typically it's 2-3 days, and then it goes back to -30...

spring is similar, we go from -10 to +10 overnight, but it's not the same, it doesn't have the wind like a chinook has, which makes the snow melt much slower(without), and it just stays warm, which doesn't count
