ya,it's a new badge...jim just made it up.
thought you had the basement all set up with the welder in there and such? and is that the ranger there without the bed?
i see a deadly ranger!
ok....so I remeber seeing parts of the GT-12 in the "what are you working on" thread in the fab forum.....thought WOW that is Cool....
just didn't know there was a whole thread about it elsewhere til I saw the new non-Ranger build forum......considering I just usually zip through a few of the different forums on this site.....
needless to say....4 days later and 1 new Grandson....I finally have read the entire thread.....
as with everyone else...awesome work
and I promise to keep up with it religiously

sweet...good to have you on board
i didn't think there was anyone left that hadn't found this insanity.congrats on the new family member...is it your first?
i've figured out that there isn't a shifter out there that's small enough and works the way i want,so i'll be making one of those too.i took some time away from my work to design one,i may start fabrication tonight.
i'm also getting a to-do list together.i'm breaking it all down into categories and listing the things to do in each category.i've left plenty of room between each category to add more stuff,as i know things will come up.
so far i've filled four pages, and there's more to do.
the good thing about this is it takes care of those times i'm staring at the car and don't know where to start.sometimes it's nice to look at a list and start picking things off it.
Couldn't you do it with a solenoid and just hide a sensor under the shifter you were going to use? or would that take up more room than the mechanical one?
I only ask because our Formula SAE team used to use solenoids to shift motorbike transmissions in our cars. the only problem we had was finding neutral with it because N is in between 1 and 2 on those boxes.
i suppose i could do that, but a simple cable type shifter is easy to make and reliable.it just needs to be essentially a 3/4 scale version of a typical auto floor shifter, and the top part of the mechanism is compact enough to fit a boot over so it looks like a four speed shifter.
Yeah. and you know that you're definitely going to hit the gears right.
don't forget that if its 3/4 scale you're still going to have to make the cable move the same amount at the transmission end![]()
at the moment,it's more like a 'dead' ranger.
