Grille removal on 01-03

How do you remove the center grille piece on an '02? It is really faded on mine and I was wanting to either paint it white with the truck, black or stock gray. I only got as far as removing the 4 screws on the top of the grille and it still wouldn't come off. Is it a unit with the body trim under the headlights/outer grille?

there's clips under the headlight that holds it into place

remove the top screws and carefully push the securing tabs with a flat screw driver.there are 2 on the center and one under each headlight.
