Got to think about some tires soon

Ahh, ok, i'll ask the guys at my neighbors shop. Thanks!

So, I clicked on the 235/75R15XL @ $143
The XL was the only 235-15 in the results.
Will the XL work ok on Ranger Rims (deer foot)
Will those be much wider than the 235/75R15's I have now, already decided to use the new ones on back anyway

If you're looking for a good (not real cheap) tire, try Kumho Crugen HT51. Your size is available. I just got these tires for my Ranger and am very happy with them. These are an all-weather tire for light trucks with a 70,000–mile treadwear warranty. See if an independent tire shop can get them for you. I paid $155 each for mine, but it included mounting and balancing at my indy tire shop.
We sold a lot of Khumo tires at the brake shop I worked at. Boss was a Khumo Rep and ran them on his dirt track cars.

has anybody had them over 2/3 years? I read somewhere some had dry rotted after 2 years. Are these made in China?

XL ? Do you think the 235/75R15XL will fit ok on the Ranger deer hoof rims?

I can get those at Wmart
What's the difference in 105T and 109T ?

All the wheels listed for the 2010 & 2011 Rangers are rated for 1,600#, aluminum and steel rims.

I was really hoping to get an extra check in the mail today.
Instead I got a tax bill ;)

I guess I outcheaped you all. I installed a full set of Starfire Solarus HTs on my stock rims and static balanced them myself. Think they were about 80 bucks apiece on the jungle site. They're 109T and made by Cooper I believe. I've run up to 90-95 mph and not even the slightest vibration. Put a similar set on my 67 lemans a few years ago to make it a roller and sort of liked them.

you used a bubble balancer?

back in the 90s, i used to take my karmann ghia to this old dude outside of fort benning for tire stuff. he used a small bubble balancer on everything and i never had a bit of vibration either. now days, they use those spin balancers and it seems like you always have some type of small vibration on the highway.

i look at those bubble balancers online and think i should get one because then i can fix the stupid vibrations from the dealer rebalancing my wheels

Yes I did. Cheap one from Amazon. Less than 60 bucks I think. Used the glue on weights. Factory rims with old tires had MANY hammer on weights. Took them all off. New tires had no "balance" markings. Two of the new tire/rim combos needed no weights!!! Zero vibrations and wearing fine after about 12k. I align myself too. Yes I'm "thrifty"...

Yeah, Cooper makes Starfire. I don't even know that brand was still around. I haven't seen that name in a long time on the web sites I haunt.

the cheap ones are worthless. results are not repeatable.

The cheap one I got had some decent reviews claiming to be "verified". Figured I'd take a chance. I only drive it a couple hundred miles a week as a part-time daily driver.
I did each tire three separate times in a cycle before adding weights (if necessary) and after (if necessary). So, did the four then went back and did the four again etc. Seemed reproducible to me. I like higher "n" values but they were getting heavy. Checked them again when I rotated at about 6 or 7k and still OK. Should check again next rotation.
