Good deal on a diesel?

The odometer says 44861. I assume that is 144k. The speedometer cable works in 5th gear, but not the others he said. He also claims it started up ok this morning at 7 degrees. Im gonna try to get him to send me a video of a cold start. Its about a 3 hour drive for me to go look at it so i wanna know what im gettin into.

This is a 2wd by the way.

2wd is not as desirable as 4x4,but basically you're just buying the engine anyway.i was trying to buy a truck with that engine in the summer-it was not running,but i offered $1500.the owner turned me down,but hired me to fix it(timing belt-replace the one on yours if you buy it).

as for the speedo only working in 5th,that just don't make sense.the cable is driven off the trans output shaft,so any time the driveshaft is turning,regardless of whether the trans is in gear or not,the speedo will be driven.

I don't believe the 7 degree cold start, the only way mine starts when it's that cold out is if it's setting in my heated garage overnight...

Plugged in with brand new batteries mine will start at 13 or 14 degrees, any colder and your screwed.

Getting the vid of the 7 degree cold start is an awesome idea, also cause i don't believe it... On the price...

But I do believe 1500 is a descent price if he really has replaced all the seals and what all...

with the cost of fuel going way north two grand for a diesel ranger i would jump on. as far as swapping power plants I say no swap bodies YES.
