Going to Vegas

I'm not one to post any non-ranger threads here but I'm just posting that I'll be going to Vegas in March for the 311 day concert. My girl and I are staying in the Excalibur, it's my first time making a trip out there so I'm expecting a good time, she's been there a few times for work. Just thought I'd share my excitement. Besides gambling and the shows is there anything I should check out while in the area?

I have only been to Vegas once. It was just for a few hours and during the daylight. So I'm more interested in hearing the replies and can't really contribute much - but I would suggest checking out the Hoover Dam if you can. It's about 30 miles from Vegas but it's worth checking out, in my opinion. Unless you travel a lot, it might be your best chance to see it.

sin city, might not be able to take advantage of all of it considering your bringing your girl. prostitutes, wayne newton, bars, clubs, blue-man group, elvis and monroe impersonators, cat houses, losing all your money...in the golden nuggets pool you can swim w/ sharks=)

Been to Hoover Dam on work and was "forced" to stay in Vegas. There is Nellis air base, the Shelby museum, the painted desert is close. Lots to do, food is really inexpensive. Check on the local attactions, lots more than gambling.

Cool, I'll have to check out Hoover Dam, doesn't sound like a lame idea to me. I know I'll spend some time at the casinos but I'm not that much of a gambler. Since we're not renting a car while out there, we'll be relying mainly on sites that are offered by tour guides etc. I'm surprised to hear you say that the food is inexpensive, all the restaurants that I've been looking at are pricey. Thanks for the idea's.
