Going to check out a Jeep tomorrow.

153.000 miles that engine is still a baby for the 4.0 hopefully the wires didn`t get hacked too much. Lots of them wrecked in the bone yards around here alot of good parts. I have a 95 2wd sport 4.0 HO lots of power.

Worked on the jeep for a bit today, mostly looking it over good.

My ever-growing list of what she needs..
-Passengers parking lens/bulb. ($7)
-Drivers corner lens/bulb. ($7)
-Passengers mirror. ($10)
-Rear view mirror. ($6)
-Transmission. ($100)
-Battery clamps. ($3)
-Hatch shocks. ($10)
-Emblems. ($6)
-Paint. ($25-30)
-A good cleaning, and some raid.

That's to fix it almost completely. Added up it totals around 180 dollars, so it would be 280 all togeather. I did up a bluebook of the truck without the trans fixed and it came at 1,435 for the Jeep, I might just fix the minor stuff and sell it for a 800-1000 to turn a tidy little profit. This is all assuming the title thing works out. I could use that to pay off my loan along with the sale of the Ranger, and then get a new loan on a newer XJ or another Ranger. I switch ideas around so fast, I don't even know what's going on half the time. lol.

Good news guys, letter from the DMV came. I can get a title! I just have to send a letter to the origional owner, asking for proof of ownership properly transfered to me. All he has to do is sign the letter and return it. If he doesn't return it I can contact the DMV office and they will send more paperwork for me to fill out without him, or if the letter is returned to me unopened because it's undeliverable to him I can send it to the DMV with some forms and BAM. Title in hand.

Regardless of how it's done it should only cost me 58+postage. 50 for title fees and 8 for NYS sales tax on the Jeep.

Once I have the title (and fix the Zx2) I will start working on the Jeep. Since the jeep has less miles and will cost less to repair than the Ranger, sadly it has to go. After I'm done driving it of course.

I'm going to keep a running total of how much the jeep has cost me. So far were only at 100 for purchase price.

I'm not even driving it yet and I'm already looking for MPG mods. :D

So far the best one I've found (and ever heard of) is a Stratus fuel injector swap. There are verified gains of 1-6mpg with the difference being in the year and previous condition of the injectors. Apparently the fuel injectors on the XJ's 4.0 engine have one hole to squirt from, where the stratus and neon (same engine) have four. Since there is four it helps to atomize the fuel more efficiently, adding to less fuel needed and better throttle response.

I'm going to start collecting the parts in spring, because I don't plan on doing it until I get a rating of my gas mileage previous to doing the swap. There is a Ford swap that uses a Chrysler regular I can do, but I would also have to update the fuel rail to a 91-95 rail in order to use the regulator. Because of that I'm going to stick with the Dodge/Chrysler swap. I can get the parts from the following vehicles.

Chrysler Cirrus (1995-1997)
Chrysler Sebring (1996-1997)
Dodge Caravan (1996-1997)
Dodge Neon (1995-1997)
Dodge Stratus (1995-1997)
Plymouth Breeze (1995-1997)

What I would be looking for is the injector that is the same size as mine, hopefully with part number 0280155703. I have heard that some people run into fuel rail issues with this injector put in, so I am going to do a lot more research before I do the swap.

i had a jeep like that in april..i bought it for 400 and sold it for 250 lol it was junk thu leaked oil like a sob and the reverse didnt work till u drove down the road for a few miles i should have just kept it tho

I've been debating on ditching the chrome or not for a while, I think I've decided to keep it. Mostly because I don't want to go through all the work to paint it. I did a couple photoshops and I liked the chrome version better anyway. This is basically how I want the Jeep to look by May 2011, which is when I'm set to put it on the road.

With chrome.

Chrome painted black.

All that I did was cleaned up the paint a bit and made the plastics black. Then I tinted the windows, the front I plan on doing to the state maximum and the rears I am undecided on. I added the corner light and marker light on that I am missing, and I painted the rims. I'm going to do them in black with the "Jeep" inlay in red. All blacks will be gloss, I don't like the look of flat black. It's probably not going to look that clean either, since I'm going to use rattlecans. I'm pretty good with those though, I touched up alot of my Zx2 with them and it all came out pretty good.

This morning I got inside it and checked out that duct tape, it wasn't anything special. It was just a ball of it stuck there, I thought it had wires in it. It was covering up this thing..

Which after some research, I've discovered goes to this.

I'll be removing that shortly. It doesn't work.

I've been told it also goes to these relays, which aren't connected to anything anyway, so they will go as well.

I also snagged a couple pictures of the underside, not very good photos but they show how little rust is on this thing.

Because of the low rust condition I am going to only drive this in warm weather. I'll leave winter to my rusted out car. I have also decided on a lift, I'm aiming for the Rough Country 3" add-a-leaf lift, with 2" spacers and shackles for a total of 5". I wanted to go with 33x10.5 but I think I might stick with some 31" tires after reading a couple threads on a cherokee forum. I guess 33" tires will need trimming unless you have 7" of lift. Gay. I would just trim but I want to keep the stock look until I can afford some bushwackers. Should help my wallet though, both on the purchase cost and on gas. I still have to figure out what gearing my Jeep has.

dude, thats an awsome starter setup, can I have it?

The steal stopper? Sure, I doubt it works and I have no idea how it goes in but okay. Oh, and I have no idea what the code is. :D

The previous owner hacked it out and wired the starter switch to a pushbutton since he didn't know how to put it on the regular ignition I guess.

thanks! I can reset it I am sure, and I need to either make or buy adapters for my truck

Did some more research, I will also be needing a transfer case drop for this lift, since it messes with the drive-shaft angles too much. I still have more research to do.

Also, I have decided to only buy front, and then make a bastard pack for the rear from a Dakota leaf pack. Add-a-leaf packs are too... hm... saggable? If that is even a word.

Also, if anyone in NY would be willing to fab me up a pair of tube bumpers for cheap (materials + a small fee or free) then let me know, but I'm not going to be in the bumper stage for a year or so. Have to get it on the road first. I can do it myself, with the exception of bending. I don't have a bender.

I had a grand cherokee for a while...well it was the girlfriends. I put a rough country 4" kit in it and it cleared 31's fine, but that is as large as I would want to go. I did NOT do a tranfercase drop with it and had no problems.

And yes those are my old ranger rims on there.

The Grand Cherokees are alot bigger than my little Cherokee. I wanted one for a while, until I checked the gas mileage estimates.

Not really that much larger...same engine and transmission. It got pretty decent gas mileage even lifted on 31's with 3.73's.

Moved the Jeep up on the hill, in the spot I origionally set up for the Ranger. Oh well, at least one vehicle gets some use out of my hard work.
