GM and Chrysler merge???

Basically GM wants to "absorb" Chrysler just to get its hands on the 12 billion or so Chrysler has in cash reserves.

Prior to the GM-Chrysler talks, Ford and GM had also been discussing a merger. :badidea:

With so many other brand names under the title. I believe they should remain seperate. I could spell bad news if they back an Allison to a Cummins. And don't they both have their issues. Quality control is rather low for both companys. Chrysler doesn't seem to be using their engines anymore, the same can be appilied to GM for their smaller cars.

I heard About it on the news on wednesday i believe. I think its a terrible Idea. The companies that produce the Chevy HHR and The Chrysler PT Cruiser COMBINED?! Thats rediculous, like that's gonna make either of them last any longer.

The guy who designed the PT Cruiser quite Chrysler when they were going down in the earlier 2000's and then switched over to GM, redesigned the PT and threw HHR badges on it.

GM merging with Chrysler doesn't seem like the worst idea ever. A lot of the parts they use are built by the same company. Chrysler is heavy with Champion, (or that I've known them to be in the past), and GM is heavy with AC Delco. The AC in AC Delco stands for Albert Champion. Its only a matter of time before this happens, and its only a matter of time before Ford Joins them. A lot of components of them all are built by outside companies that build for everyone, including imports that are built in North America. Most frames and Most axle assemblies are built out of house, and for the three they're built by the same company, just with the specifications the manufacture gives them.

As a side note, if you tried hard enough, I'm sure you could tie any car company to any other car company, just by parts manufactures, shared chassis, engines, or technology. Probably not a move that the ol' GM or Mopar lovers want to hear, but it was bound to happen.

Yep. A Honda engine in a Saturn Vue. A Mits engine in a Dodge.

Yep, GM also has had ties to Chrysler in the past, indirectly. Hino-Fuso (Heavy truck company, Isuzu owned if I remember correctly) dealt with Mitsubishi (Chrysler) for some time, and they also have ties with Isuzu (GM)
